What ritmodev.com does with your data

Data we collect

Contact form — when you send a message, I collect the name, email address, and message you submit. Submitting the form is the only time this site receives details that identify you.

Visitor statistics — when the home page or a project page loads, it sends one small request to this site's own server with the page's path and the address of the page that linked you here. For each page view I keep: the page, its language, the domain name of the linking site (not the full link), your country as reported by Cloudflare (which serves this site), and your device type, browser and operating system, worked out from the user-agent string your browser sends. Your IP address and the user-agent string itself are not stored.

To count unique visitors without identifying anyone, the server combines your IP address and user-agent with a random value, then keeps only a shortened one-way hash of the result. That random value is never saved and is replaced every day at midnight UTC (and whenever the server restarts), so the hash can't be turned back into an IP address, and visits on different days can't be linked together.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, the page doesn't send that request at all, and your visit isn't counted.

Server logs — like any web server, this one briefly logs standard request data (IP address, browser type, requested page) for security and debugging. These logs aren't used to identify individual visitors and are kept only as long as operationally needed.

How I use it

• To read and reply to your message.
• To keep a record of past conversations, in case you follow up.
• To see, in aggregate, how many people visit, which pages they read and where they come from — so I know what's worth improving. Only I can see these statistics.

I never sell, rent, or share your contact-form data or the visitor statistics with third parties, and I don't use either for marketing you didn't ask for.

How long I keep it

Contact form submissions are stored in the database and kept for as long as reasonably useful for responding to you and keeping a record — or until you ask me to delete them, whichever comes first.

Visitor statistics are deleted automatically once they're 365 days old, by a clean-up that runs every night.

Your rights

You can ask at any time to see what's on file for you, correct it, or delete it entirely — just email using the address below. I'll handle it directly; there's no support queue to sit in.

Visitor statistics aren't tied to your identity, so there's no record in them I could look up for you. If you'd rather not be counted at all, turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect data from them.

Third-party links

This site links out to services like Google Play and GitHub. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and I'm not responsible for how they handle your data once you leave ritmodev.com.
